Trustees sign off on academic program changes

KALAMAZOO--Acting at their March 18 meeting, Western Michigan University trustees approved changes to 13 academic programs recommended by the University administration after review by the Faculty Senate's Graduate Studies and Undergraduate Studies councils.

Undergraduate program changes

Creation of an accelerated bachelor's/master's degree program in industrial and entrepreneurial engineering.

Revision of the mathematics minor to include an actuarial science option

Creation of minors in political science education, geography education and history education

Creation of a social studies secondary education major

Replacement of the Bachelor of Arts in Art Education with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Art Education.

Graduate program changes

Deletion of a master's degree program in performing arts administration

A name change replacing a master's program in socio-cultural foundations and educational thought with a master's degree in socio-cultural studies of education

Name and program changes to create a master's degree in international development administration to replace a master's program in development administration

A name change making the master's program in rehabilitation reaching a master's program in vision rehabilitation therapy

Separation of the master's program in rehabilitation counseling from the vision rehabilitation therapy program

A name change that will make the doctoral program in interdisciplinary health studies a doctoral program in interdisciplinary health sciences.
