Education Career Fair draws record number of employers

April 7, 2008

KALAMAZOO--Western Michigan University's 20th annual Education Career Fair will showcase a variety of job opportunities for educators from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday, April 14, in the East Ballroom of the Bernhard Center on WMU's main campus in Kalamazoo.

The Bernhard Center venue will be filled to capacity with representatives of 160 school districts from Michigan and 13 other states--the largest number of districts ever to register for the fair.

This event is designed to recruit those seeking employment in K-12 educational systems as well as those interested in attending graduate school during the 2008-09 academic school year. The event is free and open to the public.

Those attending the fair do not need to pre-register, but should dress in interview attire and bring a sufficient supply of resumes to distribute to prospective employers.

Sponsors for the 2008 Education Career Fair include MEEMIC Insurance Co., and WMU's Alumni Association and Career and Student Employment Services.

Volunteering to help out at the event are members of such WMU organizations as the Delta Sigma Pi fraternity, the Delta Zeta sorority, Drive Safe Kalamazoo, the football team, the Science and Mathematics Teacher Association, and the Student Education Association. Courtesy vans will be supplied as an in-kind gift from Enterprise Rent-A-Car.
