Construction resumes on I-94 through Kalamazoo

KALAMAZOO--Visitors to Western Michigan University coming
from Chicago and other points west on I-94 are encouraged to
follow detour routing to U.S. 131 North and the WMU main campus.
Major reconstruction is taking place at the intersection of
I-94 and U.S. 131. The ramp for eastbound I-94 (from Chicago)
to northbound U.S. 131 (toward Kalamazoo) will be closed throughout
the construction season.
Recommended detour
Traveling east on I-94 (from Chicago)
- Exit I-94 at 9th Street, Oshtemo, Exit 72.
- Turn left on 9th and proceed north to Stadium Drive.
- Turn right on Stadium toward Kalamazoo.
- For admissions, Bernhard Center and University Arena, proceed
on Stadium to the traffic light at Oliver Street and turn left.
- For Miller Auditorium, Fetzer Center and Valley Residence
Halls proceed on Stadium to the traffic light at Howard Street
and turn left.

WMU visitors coming from the east, north and south do not
need to detour, but may experience some delays as traffic on
sections of I-94 and U.S. 131 will be limited to one lane for
brief periods throughout the construction season. Visitors coming
from Detroit and points east who want to avoid I-94 through Kalamazoo
may do so by following the optional detour below.
Optional detour
Traveling west on I-94 (from Detroit)
- Exit I-94 at Business Loop 94, Exit 81.
- Follow BL-94 through downtown Kalamazoo on King Highway,
Kalamazoo Avenue and Stadium Drive.
- For admissions, Bernhard Center and University Arena, proceed
on Stadium to the traffic light at Oliver Street and turn right.
- For Miller Auditorium, Fetzer Center and Valley Residence
Halls, proceed on Stadium to the traffic light at Howard Street
and turn right.
