KALAMAZOO--Seminar 2008, Western Michigan University's summer music camp for high school students, is again hosting a free concert series featuring guest and faculty artists. "English or not English? ... That is the question," features performances by Kalamazoo Ringers, Orlando Consort, and faculty from Seminar and the WMU School of Music.

Concert schedule (all shows begin at 7:30 p.m.)

Monday, July 14, WMU's Dalton Center Recital Hall
Act 1: "The English horn is neither English nor a horn"--
The opening concert features WMU resident artist Yu-Lien The (piano), performing an Anglo-German program. Also performing will be Chicago Symphony English hornist Scott Hostetler and Grand Rapids Symphony violinist Adam Liebert, who is an alumnus of both WMU and the Seminar summer music camp.

Thursday, July 17, WMU's Dalton Center Recital Hall
Act 2: "English handbells made in the United States"--
The second concert will feature
Kalamazoo Ringers, one of the nation's first community handbell choirs. The 14 ringers play a six-octave set of 80 Malmark handbells along with a seven-octave set of 75 Malmark chimes. Founded in 1981 by director Janet Van Valey, the ensemble rings for churches, businesses and civic organizations throughout the United States, Canada and Europe.

Monday, July 21, Stetson Chapel, Kalamazoo College
Act 3: "English quartet featured with American singers"--
Orlando Consort, a male a cappella vocal quartet from Great Britain, will appear in the final program of the series with the Seminar 2008 concert choir. This collaboration is made possible through generous support from the Fontana Chamber Arts. Admission is free, but tickets are required and can be reserved by calling (269) 382-7774.
