July 15, 2008

KALAMAZOO--Raising money for a worthy cause is one swing away, thanks to an upcoming golf outing that will collect funds for marketing majors at Western Michigan University.

The WMU Marketing Classic tees off Monday, Aug. 18, at Thornapple Creek Golf Club, 6415 West F Ave., Kalamazoo. The event, costing $95 per golfer, consists of a four-person, 18-hole scramble and includes a cart, lunch, goodie bag and door prizes. On-course prizes also will be given for closest to the pin, longest drive, most accurate drive and longest putt.

Registration is from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., with a shotgun start at 1 p.m. After golf, awards will be given away and hors d'oeuvres will be served.

Money raised will go for scholarships, student awards and travel to national competitions. In addition to golfers, corporate sponsors also are being sought.
