KALAMAZOO--Thirty-six Western Michigan University students
have been named to the 2008 edition of "Who's Who Among
Students in American Universities and Colleges."
Since 1934, the Who's Who program has been honoring outstanding
campus leaders for their accomplishments in and out of the classroom.
Criteria for selection include academic achievement, community
service, leadership in extracurricular activities and potential
for continued success.
Those named in the program's annual directory join an elite group
of students from higher education institutions across the country.
The WMU students selected were nominated by WMU faculty and staff
members.
The honorees, listed below with their hometown, class year
or graduation information and major, receive lifetime use of
a job reference service and have their biographies published
in "Who's Who Among Students in American Universities and
Colleges."
Vikash Achutaramaiah of Kalamazoo is originally from
India and a master's student majoring in computer science.
Maria Margaret Armstrong of Hastings, Mich., is a master's
student in occupational therapy.
Stacy Lee Averill of Fulton, Mich., graduated in April
2008 with a bachelor's degree in advertising and promotion and
minors in general business and art.
Matthew James Begeman of Kalamazoo graduated in April
2008 with a bachelor's degree in construction engineering and
a minor in mathematics.
Brynne Kathleen Belinger of Fenton, Mich., graduated
in April 2008 with a master's degree in general business.
Peter Mark Bombara of Jenison, Mich., is a junior majoring
in mechanical engineering.
Shane Robert Brown of Harrison Township, Mich., graduated
in June 2008 with a bachelor's in sales and business marketing
and minors in finance and general business.
Amanda Jean Cassar of Livonia, Mich., graduated in
April 2008 with a bachelor's in accountancy and minors in finance
and general business.
Melissa Ann Demetriou of Dexter, Mich., graduated in
April 2008 with a bachelor's in marketing and a minor in general
business.
Katie Marie Divine of Centralia, Mo., is a master's
student majoring in occupational therapy.
Alex Andrea Garrett of Olympia, Wash., graduated in
April 2008 with a bachelor's in public relations and minors in
social work and English.
David Hugh Gregg of Houghton, Mich., is a senior majoring
in psychology.
Bridget Therese Jancarz of Vicksburg, Mich., graduated
in April 2008 with a bachelor's in advertising and promotion
and minors in communication and general business.
Aaron Myron Layendecker of South Haven, Mich., is a
junior majoring in secondary education and Spanish.
Lisa Marie LeVasseur of Bay City, Mich., graduated
in April 2008 with a bachelor's in psychology and a minor in
Spanish and is a graduate student at WMU.
Jessica M. Linne of Harper Woods, Mich., is a senior
majoring in secondary education and mathematics with a minor
in history.
Whitney Katherine Lofdahl of Zeeland, Mich., is a senior
majoring in early childhood education and Spanish teaching with
minors in language arts and social studies.
Jacqueline Nicole Miller of Grand Rapids, Mich., is
a senior majoring in social work with a minor in psychology.
Emily Marie Myers of Osseo, Mich., graduated in April
2008 with a master's in interdisciplinary health services and
occupational therapy.
Shahin Ahmed Abdel Naby of Kalamazoo is originally
from Egypt and a doctoral student majoring in physics.
Adriana Cornelia Nunn of East Leroy, Mich., graduated
in June 2008 with a bachelor's in marketing and a minor in international
business.
Miranda Kay Owen of Rockford, Mich., is expected to
graduate in August 2008 with a bachelor's in food and consumer
packaged goods marketing.
Joseph Michael Parr of Highland, Mich., graduated in
April 2008 with a master's in sports management.
John Paul Quasarano of Holt, Mich., graduated in June
2008 with a bachelor's in history.
Sarah Louise Rabbers of St. Joseph, Mich., is a senior
majoring in dance.
William Preston Rizor of Battle Creek, Mich., graduated
in April 2008 with a bachelor's in civil engineering and a minor

Brett Dylan Rogers of Jackson, Mich., graduated in

Russell James Schoenbeck of Palatine, Ill., graduated
in April 2008 with a bachelor's in electrical engineering and

Jennifer Patricia Steiner of Grand Rapids, Mich., is
a senior majoring in organizational communication with minors
in holistic health and psychology.
Danielle Lee Thayer of Battle Creek, Mich., graduated
in April 2008 with a bachelor's in advertising and promotion

Catherine Davis Upchurch of Mattawan, Mich., is a senior
majoring in biomedical sciences with a minor in chemistry.
David G. VanDeusen of Hillsdale, Mich., is a senior
majoring in political science.

April 2008 with a bachelor's in organizational communication

Yazmine Michelle Watts of Kalamazoo is expected to
