Emerita's book posthumously published

Sept. 19, 2008

KALAMAZOO--A collection of essays, "Aspects of Early Music and Performance," by the late Audrey Davidson, emerita in music, has been published by AMES Press of New York.

The book contains 12 essays, some not previously published and others selected from previous publications, on medieval music-drama, early music vocal performance technique, Scandinavian Holy Week music, and music of the Renaissance.

Davidson, who died in 2006, came to WMU in 1965 and retired in 1993. Her last book was "Oliver Messier and the Tristan Trilogy," published in 2001, but she had many other written works to her credit.

The professor was the founder and director of the Society for Old Music, which for 25 years was known for its presentation of early music concerts for local audiences and for WMU's annual International Congress on Medieval Studies
