WMU and stage workings ink labor agreementSept. 29, 2008 KALAMAZOO--Western Michigan University's Board of Trustees approved a three-year contract between WMU and the International Alliance of Theatrical Stage Employees. Acting at their Sept. 12 meeting, trustees signed off on the contract with the union, which represents independent stage workers for major productions at WMU venues such as Miller Auditorium. The contract will cover four to eight employees who fill the bulk of the need for part time professional stage help beyond that provided by WMU's permanent staff. The agreement formalizes a long relationship between the University and members of IATSE and is similar to contracts at other Michigan venues.
