Bike-a-thon to support people with disabilities

Oct. 10, 2008

KALAMAZOO--Members of the Western Michigan University chapter of Pi Kappa Phi plan to battle the brisk fall weather and test the limits of their physical endurance in an effort to raise money for people with disabilities.

"Pedal for Push," a 24-hour-long stationary bike-a-thon will take place from noon Wednesday, Oct. 15, to noon Thursday, Oct. 16, at the Campus Flagpoles. Pi Kappa Phi will be collecting donations during the 24-hour period, and all money raised will go to the fraternity's non-profit organization, Push America.

Pi Kappa Phi is the only Greek organization to successfully create and maintain its own non-profit organization. Established in 1977, Push America is dedicated to helping people with disabilities, both mental and physical, through volunteering, fund raising and raising awareness.

Those interested in participating or sponsoring a brother for "Pedal for Push" should contact Andrew Van Wasshnova at a5vanwasshno@wmich.edu.
