Eugene D. PaulsonOct. 13, 2008 Eugene D. Paulson, retired director of the Muskegon Regional Center of Western Michigan University, died Oct. 6 in Norton Shores. He was 73. A former WMU alumnus, Paulson headed the Muskegon office for 25 years, retiring in 1991. Previously, he was principal of Hile Elementary and Junior High School. Born in Muskegon, he was honored as a nominee for WMU's Distinguished Service Award. He was also a former member of the Port City Beagle Club, past president of the Mona Shores Kiwanis, a Big Brother and a member of the of the National University Extension Association. A memorial service was held Oct. 13 in Muskegon. Memorial contributions may be made to the Loaves and Fishes Food Pantry.
