Fashion show benefits Dover Hills fire victims

Oct. 30, 2008

KALAMAZOO--Western Michigan University's popular student-run fashion show returns to downtown Kalamazoo for one matinee and two evening shows Nov. 7-8.

"House of MODA," a runway fashion show, is sponsored by the Merchandising Opportunities Design Association, a registered student organization at WMU. It will feature more than 20 WMU student designers, local boutiques and other local talents in makeup, hair, modeling and music.

Students displaced by the fire at Dover Hills apartments Oct. 26 will be the beneficiaries of proceeds from this fall's fashion show, as well as donations of clothing. The semiannual show benefits a local or national charity selected by members of MODA.

Shows are Friday, Nov. 7, at 8 p.m. and Saturday, Nov. 8, at 1 and 8 p.m. in the Cityscape Event Center above the Union Cabaret and Grille in downtown Kalamazoo.

VIP tickets are on sale for $30 for the two evening shows and include reserved seating, and hors d'oeuvres and a cash bar at a pre-show reception beginning at 6:30 p.m. both nights. VIP tickets must be reserved in advance.

General admission tickets are $12 each for the evening shows and $5 for the Saturday matinee and will be sold at the door and in advance.
