Student sculptures on display at Richmond Center

KALAMAZOO--Original sculptures by Western Michigan University student Kathleen Rearick of Brighton, Mich., will be on display Monday through Friday, Dec. 1-5, in the Richmond Center for Visual Arts.

Rearick's exhibit, "Gnaw," is an installation of steel sculptures and objects of adornment. Each piece reflects the artist's frustration with laws prohibiting same-sex marriage. The exhibit is open to the public free of charge in the Richmond Center's DeVries Gallery. A closing reception will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. Dec. 5 in the student lounge, located above the gallery.

Richmond Center gallery hours

  • Monday through Thursday: 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
  • Friday: 10 a.m. to 9 p.m.
  • Saturday: noon to 6 p.m.
