Award-winning British comedy at Little Theatre

KALAMAZOO--Kalamazoo Film Society presents the Golden Globe-nominated British comedy "Happy Go Lucky" Friday through Sunday, Jan. 9-11, in the Little Theatre at Western Michigan University.

Show times are 7 and 9:30 p.m. Friday; 4:30, 7 and 9:30 p.m. Saturday; and 2:30 and 5 p.m. Sunday. Admission is $5 and $3 for students.

"Happy Go Lucky" looks at the life of Poppy (Sally Hawkins), a 30-year-old London schoolteacher whose relentlessly upbeat view of life tends to frustrate those around her. The film chronicles a variety of situations that test Polly's optimistic outlook, from health problems and family disputes to the taunts and contempt of her troubled driving instructor.

Written and directed by Mike Leigh, the 2008 film is shown in English and has a run time of 118 minutes. It is rated R for offensive language.

The Little Theatre is located at the corner of Oakland Drive and Oliver Lane on WMU's East Campus. Free off-street parking is available behind the theatre.
