Jan. 12, 2009

KALAMAZOO--Western Film Society presents "Vicky Cristina Barcelona," winner of the 2009 Golden Globe for Best Picture in the comedy or musical category, Friday through Sunday, Jan. 16-18, in the Little Theatre at Western Michigan University.

Show times for "Vicky Cristina Barcelona" are Friday and Saturday at 7 and 9:30 p.m. and Sunday at 2:30 and 5 p.m. General admission is $5 and $3 for students.

In Woody Allen's latest film, two young Americans, Vicky (Rebecca Hall) and Cristina (Scarlet Johansson), spend a summer in Spain. They both become involved with the same artist (Javier Bardem), unaware that his beautiful but insane ex-wife (Penelope Cruz) is about to re-enter the picture. When they all become amorously entangled, the results are both hilarious and harrowing.

The 2008 film is shown in English and has a run time of 96 minutes. It is rated PG-13 for mature thematic material involving sexuality.

The Little Theatre is located at the corner of Oakland Drive and Oliver Lane on WMU's East Campus. Free off-street parking is available behind the theatre.
