A family in small-town Kansas is thrown into turmoil by the arrival of a handsome stranger and the liaison that ensues between him and the town beauty. Examine yearning, regret, and the necessity of taking risks in this Pulitzer Prize-winning romance by William Inge. Theatre professor Jim Daniels directs the all-student cast, which includes Tori Blade, Ashlee Davis, Justin Garascia, Natalie Hurdle, Darren Johnston, Jasmine Lake, Cory O'Brien, Cait Ryan, John Scranton, Hannah Sielatycki and Jenny Westervelt. The creative team includes theatre professor Greg Roehrick and WMU students Kaitlyn Anderson, lighting design; Diana Conte, stage management; Josh Reid, scenic design; Sara Tomaszewski, sound design; and Kathryn Trantham, costume design. Tickets for "Picnic" at Shaw Theatre are $20, $15 for senior citizens and WMU employees, and $5 for students.
