Video of Haenicke memorial service onlineMarch 3, 2009 KALAMAZOO--A video of the memorial service for former Western Michigan University president Dr. Diether H. Haenicke is available at wmich.edu/memorial. Those who wish to view the video will need the latest version of Windows Media Player installed on their computers. The software download are free of charge. The service also is available on DVD through TotalTech in the WMU Bookstore. DVDs cost $5 each, plus shipping and formatting fees, if any, and may be ordered by calling (269) 387-5460. A memorial fund honoring Haenicke has been established. Gifts may be made online using a credit card, or by check payable to WMU Foundation and mailed to Diether Haenicke Memorial Fund, WMU Foundation, Kalamazoo MI 49008-5403. Haenicke, who died Feb. 15, was WMU's fifth president, serving first from 1985 to 1998 and returning for the 2006-07 academic year as interim president. He died at age 73 in Kalamazoo. More than 1,600 people from the campus and local community attended the memorial service Feb. 26 in Miller Auditorium.
