Plans under way for WMU Day at the Capitol 2009

March 3, 2009

KALAMAZOO--Western Michigan University’s second annual WMU Day at the Capitol is planned for 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. May 27 in Lansing, Mich., and will build on the success on the inaugural event that drew more than 700 participants.

Organizers are soliciting and accepting proposals from WMU faculty, students and staff through Friday, March 27, for programs and projects to be highlighted on the front lawn of the Michigan Capitol. Celebrating the theme of WMU’s success, selected exhibits will be visually stimulating, interactive or hands-on and could include anything from a fine arts performance to a research project demonstration.

Proposals will be evaluated based on the potential of the proposed exhibit for audience engagement and on achieving a broad and diverse representation of the University. Applications will be reviewed, selected and confirmed by early April.

Also in early April, registration to attend the event will begin, including options for free bus transportation between Kalamazoo and Lansing and to receive lunch and a WMU Day T-shirt.
