Doors open at 6:30 p.m. A formal dinner with entertainment begins at 7:15 p.m. The evening includes music, casino games and a balloon pop. Tickets are available to the public for $20. To purchase tickets contact gala coordinator Erika David at (248) 342-4757 or erika.k.david@wmich.edu. "The gala is our biggest fundraiser of the year," says Justine Horton, assistant chair of DSK. "The money raised helps cover the cost of operations for the upcoming year." The theme for this year's fundraiser is "A Night in Las Vegas." Guests can play roulette, craps, black jack, and poker. With a donation, guests can participate in all activities and have an opportunity to win a number of prizes. Since 2003, DSK has provided more than 40,000 safe, non-judgmental rides home to WMU students on Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights. The cost of operation averages $40,000 per academic year. Last year the event raised more than $1,000 for the organization. Media contact: Thom Myers, (269) 387-8400, thom.myers@wmich.edu WMU News |
