Football schedule and homecoming date announcedMarch 27, 2009 KALAMAZOO--Western Michigan University and the Mid-American Conference announced the 2009 conference football schedule this week, confirming Saturday, Oct. 24, for the University's Homecoming game against Buffalo. WMU will play three Big Ten opponents in a single season for the first time in program history. WMU will play at Michigan Sept. 5, at Indiana Sept. 12 and at Michigan State Nov. 7. The Broncos will welcome five teams into Waldo Stadium, where they went 5-0 last season for the second time under head coach Bill Cubit. WMU will play versus Miami on CommUniverCity Night, Sept. 19; Hofstra, of the Colonial Athletic Association, Sept. 26; Central Michigan University Oct. 17; and Buffalo on Homecoming, Oct. 24. The Broncos will close out their regular season Tuesday, Nov. 24, against Ball State, which captured the MAC West Division title for the second year in a row in 2008. WMU will hit the road for half of its MAC West Division games, playing versus Northern Illinois Oct. 3, Toledo Oct. 10, Kent State Oct. 31 and Eastern Michigan Nov. 14. With the exception of the Nov. 24 game versus Ball State, all of the Broncos' regular-season contests will be held on Saturdays this year.
