Student news program debuts on campus

April 8, 2009

KALAMAZOO--Results of a new, student-run news program compiled during the spring semester are on display in Western Michigan University's Brown Hall.

The program, "WMU Student News," is produced by students in the School of Communication's advanced broadcast journalism class and covers stories of interest to students and the campus community. The broadcasts can be viewed on two new widescreens in Brown Hall through Friday, April 17.

Long-time WMU School of Communication instructor Jan Kruse is facilitating the class and acting as news director. Also assisting in a leadership position is WMU senior Maureen Savage, who is serving as executive producer as part of her Lee Honors College thesis project.

Communication students with an interest in journalism, broadcasting and film, video and media studies work together to research story ideas and produce professional quality news stories.
