Golf outing supports Bronco golfers

Aug. 7, 2009

KALAMAZOO--Western Michigan University's golf team is raising money for travel and other expenses through its Par Buster golf outing at the Moors Golf Club Monday, Aug. 31.

Registration opens at 11 a.m., followed by lunch and a 12:30 p.m. shotgun start. The Moors is located on Moors Bridge Road in Portage, Mich.

A full range of sponsorship opportunities is available. The per-person entry fee of $125 includes golf, gifts, lunch and a 19th hole party afterward. To register or to find out about remaining sponsorship opportunities, contact Stacy Vallier at stacy.vallier@wmich.edu or (269) 387-3062.

Travel is absolutely essential for a golf team based in Michigan, and travel expenses have increased significantly during the past two years.

This year Bronco golfers will compete primarily in the Midwest during the fall portion of their schedule. In March, they will host the Rio Verde Invitational in Arizona for the eighth straight year. In addition, the spring 2010 schedule includes trips to Arkansas and North Carolina."

The Broncos' head coach is PGA professional Cindy Trout, who has coached the team since its inception in 1998-99. She can be reached at cindy.trout@wmich.edu.
