Enid Florence (Pawson) SimpsonAug. 14, 2009 Enid Florence (Pawson) Simpson, a longtime staff member of Western Michigan University's Sindecuse Health Center, died July 21. She was 88. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, Aug. 22, from 1 to 5 p.m. in the Betlzer Lifestory Center, 6080 Stadium Drive, Kalamazoo. Simpson came to WMU in 1965 as a member of the night shift at what is now the Sindecuse Health Center. She later moved to the day shift and remained with the University's expanding health center until retiring in 1990. The dedicated registered nurse continued the work she loved after retirement, staying with Sindecuse as a part-time temporary employee until 1999. She also was active in the community and attended may of WMU's arts and cultural events. Prior to her nearly 25-year career at WMU, Simpson worked as a nurse in numerous private doctor's clinics in San Diego as well as such Michigan cities as Battle Creek and Big Rapids. Memorial donations may be made to the Al-Van Humane Society or the Heritage Community of Kalamazoo Staff Appreciation Fund.
