Deadline nears for directory changes, privacy requestsSept. 4, 2009 KALAMAZOO--Monday, Sept. 14, is the last day that Western Michigan University employees may make requests regarding the campus and home information that will appear in the alphabetical employee listing published in the 2009-10 WMU Directory.
The deadline applies to requests for changing all or parts of campus and home information as well as for attaching a privacy limitation on home information. Home Information changes may be requested by downloading the Employee Name and Address Change Form, found on the HR Forms Web site in the Employee Data section. WMU's directory is available not only to the internal University community, but also to external organizations and individuals. Its employee listing contains home information about addresses, phone numbers and names of spouses. No action is needed to permit the home information to be published. However, employees who have not already completed and returned an Employee Home Address Privacy Request Form must do so by Sept. 14 to keep their home information from being published. Visit the HR Forms Web site to download the form. It also should be noted that WMU has changed its privacy policy for those who have previously indicated that they have an unlisted home telephone number. In the past, employees had the option of including home address and spouse information in the directory while excluding unlisted telephone numbers. Beginning with the 2009-10 academic year, all home information will be omitted from the directory for faculty and staff who, in the past, have notified Human Resources that they have an unlisted phone number. Most campus-related information in the employee listing may be checked online through PeopleSearch. Questions should be directed to Human Resources at hr-hris@wmich.edu or (269) 387-3620.
