Engineering students host car show SaturdaySept. 17, 2009 KALAMAZOO--Classics, clunkers and hot rods are all welcome at Western Michigan University's Society of Automotive Engineers'--SAE--first car show Saturday, Sept. 19. The event, intended to be an annual activity, is hosted by the WMU SAE student chapter and is intended to raise money to support WMU student projects. The show will be from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the parking lot south of the University Bookstore at the corner of S. Howard Street and W. Michigan Avenue. Fees are $5 to register a car, $2 for general admission and $1 for students. There will be vehicle awards and concessions available. Money raised at the event will support the WMU's Formula SAE student team that designs and builds a small-scale formula racing car to compete with colleges and universities around the world, as well as the Baja SAE student team that designs, fabricates and tests a single seat all-terrain vehicle that will compete in national SAE events.
