Web celeb Frank Warren at MillerOct. 4, 2009 KALAMAZOO--Web celebrity Frank Warren will bring the Internet phenomenon PostSecret to Western Michigan University for a single night. "The Most Trusted Stranger in America: Frank Warren's PostSecret" will begin at 8 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 4, at Miller Auditorium.
PostSecret started as a community art project, and quickly became an online blog phenomenon, receiving more than 3 million visitors every month. The sole founder and curator of PostSecret, Warren has a collection of more than 250,000 highly personal and artfully decorated postcards that were mailed to him anonymously from around the world. Each card displays the soulful secret of a complete stranger. Warren posts new secrets every week, creating a safe space where people can freely reveal themselves and come to realize their dreams, experiences and struggles are more common than they thought. In "The Most Trusted Stranger in America: Frank Warren's PostSecret," Warren will read from his collection of postcards, sharing the wonderful stories behind them. From deep family secrets to funny reflections, Warren has seen it all. He discusses why the blog is important, and why he has made suicide awareness part of his life's work. PostSecret is one of the most popular sites on the Web and has been featured on "The Today Show" and "20/20" as well as in USA Today and on CNN, MSNBC, CBC, NPR and Fox News. In 2009, Forbes magazine named Warren one of the hottest "web celebs," right behind popular blogger Perez Hilton.
