WMU holds a United Way drive each fall. All campus contributions go to the Greater Kalamazoo United Way, and for every dollar given, 86 cents is directly invested in programs that improve the quality of life in Kalamazoo County.

This year's fundraising began Oct. 1 and will continue through the end of the month. So far, faculty, staff and retirees have contributed more than $118,000 in gifts and pledges, bringing the University 49 percent of the way to its $240,000 goal in the first half of the campaign.

"We are off to a very generous start this year. But, with just two weeks of fundraising left, we are going to have to dig a little deeper," says Bob Beam, WMU vice president emeritus of business and finance and chair of the campus United Way campaign. "There are people in our community who count on United Way. For their sake, we need to do more."

Gifts can be made as one-time donations by cash, check or credit card, or as pledges, payable by payroll deduction, credit card or direct billing from United Way. For questions about making a pledge or donation, contact wmu-united-way@wmich.edu.
