Registration under way for Turkey Trot 5K

KALAMAZOO--Western Michigan University's 46th annual Turkey Trot 5K race will take place at 9 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 21. The event is open to all members of the WMU and local communities.

WMU Turkey Trot 2009

The non-certified Turkey Trot course winds around the campus, and starts and ends at the Student Recreation Center Indoor Tennis Courts. Check-in and race-day registration opens in the tennis courts at 7:30 a.m. Registration is $15 in advance and $20 on race day. Online registration ends at 2 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 19.

T-shirts and awards

All runners will receive a T-shirt and will be timed using chip technology provided by Great Lakes ChampionChip. Prizes will be awarded for both men and women in five-year age categories, as well as 14 and under and 60 and over.

Canned-food donations

Participants are encouraged to bring canned good donations to benefit Loaves and Fishes of Kalamazoo. Last year, participants contributed more than 800 pounds of food.
