Win prizes in Amazing GeoRace

Nov. 10, 2009

KALAMAZOO--Western Michigan University students have the opportunity to compete in a timed event testing their geography skills--and win prizes--as they race across campus from noon to 2 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 20.

The Amazing GeoRace 2009 will challenge teams of two students to navigate their way around WMU collecting clues and solving puzzles to win prizes, including a grand prize of a pair of GPS units. The event begins inside the main entrance to Wood Hall.

Students not competing in the race can participate at several stations on campus where they can answer geographic questions to enter a drawing for other prizes.

All WMU students are welcome to participate free of charge. The event is part of National Geography Awareness Week and sponsored by the Department of Geography and Gamma Theta Upsilon Honor Society.

For more information or to register a team, contact geography faculty member Steve Cameron at stephen.cameron@wmich.edu or (269) 387-0604.
