Fine arts honors three for teaching, serviceDec. 2, 2009 KALAMAZOO--Western Michigan University's College of Fine Arts has singled out Dr. Stephen Wolfinbarger, professor in the School of Music, as the recipient of the Dean's Teaching Award. The award recognizes the priority placed on high-quality teaching and dedication to students learning. The honor goes to one fine arts faculty member annually for superior contributions as a teacher-artist or teacher-scholar. The college also announced Dr. Stephen Zegree, professor in the School of Music, is the recipient of the Fine Arts Outstanding Service Award. The award recognizes ongoing and short-term professional service to the department, school, college or University that is outstanding and deserving of special commendation. Another staff member, Kevin Abbott, digital media specialist in the Office of Information Technology, received the Fine Arts Service Honor Award. This is the first time the award has been presented and was made for Abbott's many contributions in technological advancement for theatre and dance productions and other college events. Nominations were made and reviewed by the College Advisory Council, The council then made its final recommendations to Dean Margaret Merrion.
