Ballet Folklorico de Mexico visits Miller

KALAMAZOO--Acclaimed international dance company Ballet Folklorico de Mexico will visit Western Michigan University for a single performance at 3 p.m. Sunday, March 7, at Miller Auditorium.

Founded in 1952 by Amalia Hernandez, Ballet Folklorico sets itself apart by combining its artists' talents with the traditional music, elaborate dance and ornate costumes of Mexican culture. The result is a stunning performance that disseminates the rich tradition and folklore of Mexico throughout the world.

Having performed more than 5,000 shows, Ballet Folklorico has received some 200 different awards recognizing its artistic merits. It has been hailed by the New York Times as "A fast-paced, entertaining show that can make viewers want to rush right off to Mexico."
