Trustees approve property-transfer arrangementsFeb. 24, 2010 KALAMAZOO--Western Michigan University's Board of Trustees moved to authorize University officials to execute documents formally effecting property transactions authorized by the Michigan Legislature in Public Act 217. The transactions include removing use restrictions on a 55-acre parcel along Drake Road, known as the Colony Farm Orchard Property, which was first conveyed to WMU in 1978; removing use restrictions on a 12-acre parcel on Blakeslee Street, the site of a former state tuberculosis hospital known as the Northwest Unit, which was transferred to WMU in 1998; and transferring property known as the Noble Lodge, located at the corner of Oakland Drive and Howard Street, from the Michigan Department of Corrections to WMU.
