Registration due Monday for assessment program

KALAMAZOO--A collaborative program for Western Michigan University faculty and staff members to learn and share ideas about assessment of student learning will take place from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Friday, March 12, in the Fetzer Center.

Check-in for "Assessment in Action" begins at 8:30 a.m. Jillian Kinzie will present the keynote address, "Creating Clear Pathways: Assessing and Enhancing the First Year Experience at WMU." Kinzie is associate director of Indiana University's Center for Postsecondary Research, which is the host site for both the National Survey of Student Engagement and the Faculty Survey of Student Engagement.

"Assessment in Action" will feature breakout session that focus on implementing assessment in both degree-awarding and non-degree-awarding units. There will be hands-on work sessions for assessment tools and assessment plans as well as opportunities to network with colleagues.
