Business student lands PureData scholarship

May 1, 2010

KALAMAZOO--A business and information systems student at Western Michigan University has been named the recipient of the 2010 PureData Corp. Scholarship.

Rolland Taft, a senior from Battle Creek, Mich., was presented the $2,000 award in a ceremony held recently at WMU's Haworth College of Business and attended by business college faculty and the Business and Information Systems Advisory Board.

"Rolland's accomplishments certainly show the relentless, consistent drive for excellence we like to see in our scholarship winners," says Robert Baker, PureData president.

A perennial resident of the WMU Dean's List, Taft has previously been awarded the Prestigious WMU Alfred Pugno Scholarship, the Michigan Competitive Scholarship and the WMU Dean's Scholarship. Previously, he was selected Senior Class Valedictorian at Harper Creek High School and has maintained a 4.00 grade point average since beginning his studies at WMU in 2006.

Kalamazoo-based PureData, was founded in 1996 by Joseph Pierluissi, who was previously an information technology executive with Four Seasons Hotels and Resorts in Toronto, Canada. Although best known for providing IT and software expertise to luxury resorts around the world, PureData also provides consulting and support to a variety of service businesses in Southwest Michigan.

"Luxury hotel clients are among the most demanding in the world," Pierluissi says. "Rolland's superb academic record, despite the demands of working through college at a Pfizer subsidiary, certainly reflects the caliber of individuals we look for to serve our own clients."
