'The Last Station' at Little Theatre

KALAMAZOO--Kalamazoo Film Society presents "The Last Station" Friday through Sunday, May 21-23, in the Little Theatre at Western Michigan University.

Show times are 7 and 9:30 p.m. Friday; 4:30, 7 and 9:30 p.m. Saturday; and 2:30, 5 and 7:30 p.m. Sunday. General admission is $5 and $3 for students with a valid ID.

"The Last Station" is a historical drama that illustrates the stormy marriage between Russian author Leo Tolstoy (Christopher Plummer) and his wife Sofya (Helen Mirren) in its final years. The film also features Paul Giamatti as Tolstoy's chief follower, Vladimir Chertkov, and James McAvoy as the couple's mediator.

Written and directed by Michael Hoffman and based on the novel by Jay Parini, the 2009 film is shown in English. It has a run time of 112 minutes and is rated R for sexuality and nudity.

Parking and directions

The Little Theatre is located at the corner of Oakland Drive and Oliver Lane on WMU's East Campus. Free off-street parking is available behind the theatre.
