Artist's sketch of suspect released

KALAMAZOO--A police artist's sketch of the suspect in a July 31 assault at Western Michigan University was released today to area media and posted on the WMU website.

Drawing of suspect. The suspect is described as a dark-skinned, thin black male in his mid-20s, between 5-feet, 10-inches and 6-feet, 2-inches tall.

At about 5:40 a.m. Saturday, July 31, a female student was grabbed by an unknown male near the Elmwood Apartments on WMU's West Campus. The victim reported that she drew a pocket knife, which the assailant took from her and stabbed her in the abdomen. The woman was taken by ambulance to Bronson hospital, where she was treated and released the following morning.
