Academic success center relocation completed

Sept. 8, 2010

KALAMAZOO--All of the units in the Center for Academic Success Programs at Western Michigan University have relocated to the first floor of Ellsworth Hall.

Formally located in Moore Hall, the center now occupies space vacated by Extended University Programs, which moved to Ellsworth's third floor in May.

WMU's Center for Academic Success Programs promotes student learning and enhances teaching through collaborative, effective research-based programs in areas such as college transitioning, career exploration, skills development, academic excellence, retention, mentoring and lifelong learning. The relocation allows the center to consolidate all of its services under one roof and in proximity to a variety of other student services and resources that are housed in Ellsworth as well as the nearby Bernhard Center.

None of the phone numbers and Web addresses for CASP's eight units have changed. However, some units have been renamed and one has been split into two offices. The units, along with their new and former names and new room numbers in Ellsworth are:

  • Academic Resource Center (Academic Skills Center), 1305
  • Alpha Program, 1260
  • Exploratory Advising (University Curriculum), 1260
  • Intellectual Skills Development Program, 1260
  • Office of Military and Veterans Affairs, (Advocacy Office for Transfer Students and Military Affairs), 1260
  • Office of Transfer Student Services (Advocacy Office for Transfer Students and Military Affairs), 1305
  • TRiO Student Success Program, 1245
  • Writing Center, 1343
