Up to $50,000 available in student sustainability grants

Jan. 19, 2011

KALAMAZOO--Applications are due Friday, Jan. 21, for a total of up to $50,000 in Student Sustainability Grants to support student research, activities and initiatives that will foster a culture of sustainability at Western Michigan University.

"This is a student-led initiative," says Alyssa Schafer, sustainability chair of the Western Student Association. "I hope students will see this as a way to get involved in the strategies to implement a sustainable campus."

All WMU students enrolled on the main campus are eligible to apply. Proposals will undergo an initial evaluation to determine, among other things, if they are legal, feasible and adequately budgeted. Proposals meeting minimum requirements will then be evaluated on merit.

Go to wmich.edu/sustainability for complete information and a grant application. Contact Alyssa Schafer at wsa-sustainability@wmich.edu with questions or comments.
