Jan. 28, 2011

KALAMAZOO--Western Michigan University's top music students will take center stage in the final round of this year's Concerto Competition at 5:30 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 13, in the Dalton Center Recital Hall. There is no admission charge, and the public is invited to attend the performance.

WMU School of Music students were competitively selected for the final round from five performance areas--string, woodwind, brass/percussion, vocal and keyboard. Finalists will vie for the opportunity to perform as soloists with the University Symphony Orchestra later this spring.

Judges for the 2011 Concerto Competition Finals include Michigan State's Melanie Helton, professor of voice, and Justin O'Dell, professor of clarinet, as well as Robert Nordling, director of orchestras at Calvin College.
