Deadline approaches for semiannual staff awards

Feb. 3, 2011

KALAMAZOO--Nominations for the spring round of WMU's semiannual Make A Difference awards are due by Feb. 28.

Anyone from the WMU community may cast a nomination, including faculty, staff, retirees, students and parents.

Make a Difference is a campuswide peer-to-peer program that recognizes WMU staff for their accomplishments and daily investment of energy and creativity. It features semiannual and annual awards honoring employees who provide exceptional service to the University.

The awards are available to employees in the American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees; Michigan State Employees Association; Police Officers Association; and Staff Compensation System (those eligible for membership in the Administrative Professional Association and the Professional Support Staff Organization).

Every fall and spring, semiannual awards are presented to a maximum of 15 people. Those selected for the accolade receive a $300 pre-tax prize as well as a certificate and are recognized at a special reception. Annual Make A Difference awards, which include a $1,200 pre-tax prize, are extended to each year's four most outstanding semiannual award recipients.

Employees may only receive the annual award once. Semiannual award recipients may win multiple times, but are limited to one semiannual award per academic year.
