Having Cleo (Fanning) around encourages Johnny to re-examine his lifestyle and the choices he's made. Coppola received a Special Achievement Award from the National Board of Review for writing, directing and producing the 2010 film. It also earned her a Golden Lion award for Emerging Cinema at the Venice Film Festival. "Somewhere" is shown in English and Italian with English subtitles.
