Orchestra concert features dance classics

KALAMAZOO--The Western Michigan University Symphony Orchestra will perform classical and contemporary dance music in a free concert at 3 p.m. Sunday, March 20, in the Dalton Center Recital Hall.

A Symphonic Pops production, "Dancing through the Ages" will consist of light classical and contemporary dance music from the past and present. Selections include: Dvorak's Slavonic Dance in E Minor, "Dance of the Tumblers" from Rimsky-Korsakov's Snow Maiden Suite, and "Danse Macabre" and the "Bacchanale" from Samson and Delila by Camille Saint-Saens. The afternoon's program will also feature lighter contemporary arrangements, including excerpts from Leonard Bernstein's West Side Story.
