University Symphonic Band plans winter concert
KALAMAZOO, Mich.—The Western Michigan University Symphonic Band will perform a winter concert at 3 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 22, in Miller Auditorium. The event is free and open to the public.
The variety-packed program will feature wind ensemble classics like Dahl's "Sinfonietta" and Husa's "Smetana Fanfare." The ensemble will also present the world premiere of a new work by WMU student composer, Douglas Osmun. The closing piece, "Mothership" by Mason Bates, features electronica, techno beats and lighting effects.
