Poem

A New Day (My Testimony)
Ms. Regina Stone

Beat meets sound word meets rhyme music meets lyrics
Lost
Life unfolds
Paths divide into paths
Divide into roads
Misplaced
Where to go
Roads curve to mold
Accept that God knows
Where they fork
His blessings still flow
So take good notes and ride slow

Foresight tougher than hindsight
Energy provides insight into his sight
Whose sight sees
My plight
Showing my light
Welcoming
And bright
While I fight
Standing for what’s right
Seeking enlightenment
Through that element
Significant in another
Vision so intricate
Connection explicit
Though very delicate
My persona so elegant
Judgment of others irrelevant

Acknowledgement
A Holistic view
philosophizing
Analyzing
In depth who’s what to who
my meaning to you Whether the answer is true
Sharing a connection with few
Unfamiliar and new
Asking what do I do?

Striving to avoid stress
able to impress
Same time express
My thoughts through my mess
Not seem helpless
Nor hopeless
I obsess
Because I feel oppressed
And suppressed
In Michigan so racist and sexist
None the less
The entire US

I continue to fight tough
Speak rough
is that enough
Of a bluff
To stay up
When feeling weighed down
After being laid down
Refusing to stay down
Down by lack of understanding
Down by peoples demanding
Down by niggas rough handling
Demeaning
Not seeing
My meaning
Or supporting
My being
Down
Down
Beaten down
Down
Broken down
Down
Deep and down
Down but not dominated Down but not diminished
Down but not out

Love conquers fear
Fear feeds fury
Annihilated by discovery
Crucial in my recovery
Put no one above Thee
As I bow down on one knee
To see that God truly has me
He knows me
Freed me and showed me
There is only one me
Sounds of His pride echo
Unmistakably
unshakably
Taking me
To find the new me
His me
The true me
Truly Free
That’s Me

Through me
Life rises passionately
Setting in creation
A new day!!!
