Dr. Brian Harris pioneered the concept of category management in the late 1980s. Since that time, he has been a leading ambassador and thought leader teaching and delivering the benefits of category management methods to retailers, manufacturers and students across the globe. In 1990 he co-founded The Partnering Group to provide a platform for the global use of category management.
For the last 35 years, he has been a leading contributor to every major industry best practices initiative across the world related to category management and its supporting practices. He co-chairs the ECR Community Global CatMan Network. His most recent contribution is the Category Management: Yesterday, Today and Tomorrow Report, which was published by the ECR Global Community. Over 20,000 copies have been downloaded in over 150 countries. The Dr. Harris Prize is awarded annually for outstanding work in category management by a Chinese retailer. Dr. Harris has his Ph.D. in marketing from Michigan State University. He lives in Los Angeles.
