Gil Phipps

Gil Phipps is senior vice president of global customer solutions at Advantage, overseeing creative, product development, package design, retail media networks and shopper marketing.

Prior to joining Advantage, Phipps was the CMO at Sprouts Farmers Market, where he led branding, marketing, promotional strategy, public relations, customer service and private brands. Phipps rebranded and repositioned the Sprouts enterprise, evolving the customer-facing brand positioning, logo and go-to-market strategy. The results of this work are evidenced in the explosive growth in sales, profitability and stock performance at Sprouts.

Prior to Sprouts, Phipps was Kroger’s vice president of branding and marketing. In this role, he evolved the Kroger brand positioning, marketing strategy, logo and visual identity. He also progressed private label branding, strategy, innovation and product development for an Our Brands portfolio, rapidly growing sales from $15 billion to in excess of $28 billion.

In 2015, Supermarket News recognized Phipps as one of the Top Disruptors in the industry. In 2018, Store Brands Magazine awarded him the "Private Brands Prowess Award."
