Bronco hockey team supporting cancer society

KALAMAZOO--A series of "Hockey Cares" events will be held this weekend by the Western Michigan University Bronco hockey team, supporting the American Cancer Society and cancer prevention awareness.

Feb. 7--Luminaria skate with the Bronco hockey team will be held beginning at 7:15 p.m. Thursday in Lawson Ice Arena. Admission is free.

Feb. 8--Bronco hockey versus Lake Superior State beginning at 7:30 p.m. Friday in Lawson Arena. Colleges Against Cancer students will be handing out pink ribbons for a donation to the American Cancer Society.

  • Pink ribbons available for a donation to ACS.
  • All fans are encouraged to wear pink.

Feb. 9--Bronco hockey versus Lake Superior State beginning at 7:30 p.m. in Lawson Arena. The Broncos will wear road black uniforms, black helmets with pink ribbon stickers, pink laces, and Hockey Cares sticks with pink tape.

  • Pink ribbons available for a donation to ACS.
  • All fans are encouraged to wear pink.
  • 3,500 pink Lawson Lunatics shirts will be given away.

Feb. 8-10--Hockey Cares Youth Tournament at Lawson Arena with proceeds going to support the WMU Relay for Life, scheduled for Friday and Saturday, April 11-12, at WMU's Kanley Track.

The events are co-sponsored by Bronco hockey and Colleges Against Cancer, a WMU registered student organization. Tickets for all hockey matches may be ordered by calling toll free (888) 4-WMU-TIX and online at wmubroncos.com.
