Women's basketball is "thinking pink"

Feb. 8, 2008

KALAMAZOO--Western Michigan University's women's basketball team is participating in a national "Think Pink" program to promote breast cancer awareness and support research for a cure.

At their home contest versus Buffalo Wednesday, Feb. 13, the Broncos will wear pink uniforms, and admission will be free of charge to anyone wearing a pink shirt. Tip off is at 7:30 p.m. in University Arena.

Donations will be accepted to support cancer research through the Jimmy V Cancer Foundation.

The Women's Basketball Coaches Association is sponsoring the "Think Pink" cancer awareness initiative Feb. 8-17. Begun in 2007, the program has grown from 120 participating schools in the inaugural season to more than 650 in 2008.
