Ombudsman and Advocacy Office relocateJune 23, 2009 KALAMAZOO--Two Western Michigan University offices providing special services for students, faculty and staff are moving to new locations this week. The Office of the Ombudsman moved to 2104 Sangren Hall yesterday, and the Advocacy Office for Transfer Students and Military Affairs will be located in 1353 Ellsworth Hall beginning tomorrow, June 24. Both offices were located on the second floor of the Bernhard Center. The University ombudsman is an intervention agent and impartial person who helps students, faculty and staff resolve academic and non-academic concerns. Kathy L. Mitchell, a 19-year veteran staff member, has served as ombudsman since July 2008. All contact information for the office remains the same and can be found at wmich.edu/ombudsman. Created in June 2007, the Advocacy Office helps smooth the transfer of students into WMU from community colleges and other four-year colleges and universities. It also serves WMU military families and assists with exit and re-entry difficulties frequently experienced by combat veterans. All contact information for the office remains the same and can be found at wmich.edu/advocacy. Media contact: Deanne Molinari, (269) 387-8428, deanne.molonari@wmich.edu WMU News |
