Event to showcase graduate and faculty research

KALAMAZOO--Graduate students and faculty members will showcase their scholarly work Friday, April 15, in Western Michigan University's Fetzer Center as part of the fifth annual WMU Research and Creative Activities Poster Day.

The free public event includes poster presentations of research from 9 to 11 a.m. in Rooms 1035, 1045 and 1055 of the center. Keynote addresses by the 2010 Emerging Scholars will follow, from 11 a.m. to noon in the Putney Lecture Hall. The speakers are Dr. Bilinda Straight, associate professor of anthropology, and Dr. Yirong Mo, associate professor of chemistry.

Lunch begins at noon with an awards presentation from 12:45 to 1 p.m. Awards recognizing the outstanding graduate student poster presentations are sponsored by the Office of the Vice President for Research and the Graduate Student Advisory Committee.

The event is sponsored by the Research Policies Council of the Faculty Senate and the Graduate Students Advisory Committee, in collaboration with the Graduate Studies Council and the Office of the Vice President for Research. College sponsors include the colleges of Arts and Sciences, Education and Human Development, Engineering and Applied Sciences, and Health and Human Services.
