KALAMAZOO--Western Michigan University is again making voter information easier to find with a Web page aimed at increasing political participation among students and the general public.

Local elections will be held throughout Michigan Tuesday, May 3, including election of school board members. There also are important bond issues on many local ballots.

Proposed state budget cuts to K-12 education will significantly affect funding to local school districts, making this year's school board elections especially important. Future members of school boards will determine how best to reallocate what is likely to be reduced funding per student from the state.

Elections are being held throughout Michigan Tuesday, May 3, with polls open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. The voter information page provides links to online answers for questions such as, "Where do I vote?" and "How do I get an absentee ballot?"
